Make sure your baby wears a hat if she will be in a cold environment ||Whenever possible, don't get involved in your kids' clash. Step in only if there's a danger of physical harm. ||Newborns are expected to lose some weight after delivery due to fluid loss. Don’t worry ||Do not postpone your baby’s vaccines unless he is sick or feverish ||Never tie a pacifier to your child’s crib or around your child’s neck or hand. This could cause serious injury or even death ||Toddler's appetite may change almost daily. Let her be the judge of how much she needs and wants to eat. ||Design a kid corner and fill it with things safe for your toddler like Tupperware, toys, empty boxes, etc. ||Expressing milk should be painless. If it hurts, stop. ||As a new mommy, sleep when your baby sleeps. Silence your phone and ignore the dishes in the sink ||Children who gain weight quickly during their first six months are more likely to be obese or at risk of obesity by age 3 ||
G6PD Deficiency Guide

 

The G6PD diet is very easy to follow. However, if you don’t follow your diet you can get very sick. Some people become so ill that they have to be admitted to the hospital.
A mother who breastfeed a baby with G6PD should also follow the G6PD Diet.
If you avoid the following foods all of the time you will do well.

Foods to be avoided in G6PD patients:

Fava beans - also called broad beans. If not sure, identify the bean before using. Our Call Center can help. Call 2356 from any mobile phone.


Drugs and Chemicals That Should be Avoided by Persons with G6PD Deficiency:

Analgesics / Antipyretics

Acetanilid, acetophenetidin (phenacetin), amidopyrine (aminopyrine), antipyrine, aspirin, phenacetin, probenicid, pyramidone.

Sulfonamides/ sulfones:

Dapsone, sulfacetamide, sulfamethoxypyrimidine, sulphanilamide, sulfapyridine, sulfasalazine, sulfisoxazole.

Cytotoxic / Antibacterial:

Chloramphenicol, co-trimoxazole, furazolidone, furmethonol, nalidixic acid, neoarsphenamine, nitrofurantion, nitrofurazone, para-aminosalicylic acid.

Miscellaneous:

Alpha-methyldopa, ascorbic acid, dimercaprol (BAL), hydralazine, mestranol, methylene blue, nalidixic acid, naphthalene, niridazole, phenylhydrazine, toluidine blue, trinitrotoluene, urate oxidase, vitamin K (water soluble), pyridium, quinine.

Antimalarials:

Chloroquine, hydroxychloroquine, mepacrine (quinacrine), pamaquine, pentaquine, primaquine, quinine, quinocide.

Cardiovascular Drugs:

Procainamide, quinidine.
